In to kill a mocking bird Atticus is the main characters father. They live in Alabama town of Maycomb. Maycomb is suffering through the Great Depression, but Atticus is a prominent lawyer and the Finch family is reasonably well off in comparison to the rest of society. One summer, Jem and Scout befriend a boy named Dill, who has come to live in their neighborhood for the summer, acts out stories together. Eventually, Dill becomes fascinated with the spooky house on their street called the Radley Place. The house is owned by Mr. Nathan Radley, whose brother, boo, has lived there for years without venturing outside. Scout goes to school for the first time that fall and detests it. She and Jem find gifts apparently left for them in a knothole of a tree on the Radley property. Dill returns the following summer, and he, Scout, and Jem begin to act out the story of Boo Radley.

To kill a mocking bird is about coming of age and seeing the rights and wrongs in life. Scout and Jem’s change from a view of childhood innocence and how they assume that people are good because they have never seen evil. Then they change to an adult view on the bad things in life. As a result of this expose they change drastically. They were not prepared for the evil that they encounter, and, as a result, they are destroyed.

Scout and jem become different. When a child’s innocents are taken away it’s like the child is gone. The whole point of being a child is to prepare you to become an adult. If you make a huge leap and become an adult as a child it messes with you.  You’re not ready to know about the bad things as a child. All you know about as a child is having fun and being taken care not death and horror. That’s ho Jem and scout change in the book.

This connects to real world, because everyday kids are becoming adults whether they’re ready or not. I don’t think there is a decision on becoming an adult, you just know when. You have more responsibilities. Some kids in other country’s today are being trained to be soldiers they didn’t have a choice hey were forced to grow up. That’s what this book relates to it says how growing up can come whenever there’s no set date for growing up it just happens.

In the article Cell phone On the Brain scientist say that cell phone activity increases brain activity. They tested that at least 50 minutes of cell phone usage makes the brain work more. This could be bad for the brain. Scientists still haven’t figured out if this could be good for your brain. The effect of the cell phone isn’t like a radioactive affect it’s not like an x-ray. Cell phones don’t all give off the same radiation of energy it depends on whether the person is talking or listening.

I don’t think it’s good that phones give off radiation everyone uses phones and that means everyone can be affected. What about the people who haven’t used a phone yet don’t they still get affected because the signal is everywhere. How do people not get sick from all of the radiation from the phones there are so many cell phone towers wouldn’t people get affect over time?

This is actually dangerous if everyone wanted to put a virus into people they would do it through the phones. Everyone would be affected because the signal travels all over the place. I wonder if the will fix this or is it not that big of a deal?

The Article Cool Jobs like Mother Nature is about a scientist that created a way to make tape strong enough to hold a full grown man up. He studied different animals and how they grip walls. He studied a beetle a spider and a gecko. He tested to see which animal could withstand motion and stay on the plat form the longest. The beetle had the best results. The beetle has small hairs on the bottom of it and it clings to surfaces just like a raindrop clings to a window. What allows both to keep from falling off is the attraction between molecules; something called the Van der Waals force. This force is weak, though, so when a raindrop gets heavy enough, it loses its grip and slides down. Because beetle feet have hundreds of thousands of hairs each hair exerting the Van der Waals force they can stick to surfaces for as long as they want. That’s pretty cool I wonder what else could be made from studies of Mother Nature.

I wonder how they made the material to make it stick. If it’s made by that logic why hasn’t anyone created something to allow us to fly? If scientists could give people supper sticky tape from the study of bugs, why not the ability to fly? This shows great improvement in the human race on how we learn from Mother Nature. I think it’s amazing that scientist is able to create things based off of nature.

I wonder what else will come up in the future. I wonder what else scientist can take from the earth and animals. Will the supper tape ever be able to be in common households? I think that the super tape isn’t necessary in households but in industrial area yeah definitely.

This poem Sun is very interesting. I Liked this poem the message of this poem is basically saying you have to go through pain even for the things that are most important. The speaker has to deal with the metaphorical sun beating down on him/her and he/she takes it because the sun also helps over time. This is a very deep concept if you need something but in the end it hurts you.
The meaning of this poem is very intriguing, to need something but in the end you suffer from it. What do you do in that case do you keep the thing or do you get rid of it. If you get rid of it you die because you need it to survive but if you keep it you'll suffer. That would be a hard decision to make die or be killed slowly. \
This poem has a deep meaning. It also relates to too much of something is never good. this could relate to people today because people use drugs but if they use it too long they will eventually die. Its good and they like it but in return its bad for there health over time like the sun to the speaker in the poem.

The poem i read was this is just to say. This wasn't my first time reading this poem and every time i have read it i still don't understand the point of it. I thought maybe as the years went by i would have a new point of view on it but no, i'm still confused by this poem.
This poem is so simple and short. It shows the speaker ate the plums and then was sorry there's no deeper meaning. I don't think that you could say it has a hidden message because it is so straight forward. Maybe the plums could be a metaphor and they could really mean how he did something and didn't have regret but was still sorry. Maybe the poem is really about plums. I don't think that the writer of the poem wanted the reader to understand the poem i think the writer wanted the reader to be confused and think if its literal or not.
This poem has made me think allot about the meaning of it. I don't really think there is a deeper meaning. Maybe the writer really ate some plums and felt bad who knows. I guess this connects to our lives by just being simple, for example some people find art in different ways some people might say a paper clip is art due to its bends. Really its just based off of opinion though.

The book and the movie Hunger games differed so much. The endings were different the beginning  was different and the movie felt rushed. Through out the book there were main character thought but in the movie you kind of had to infer. That made the movie kind of out of the blue for first time watchers. If you read the book before seeing the movie you could fill in the blanks but the book was way better in my opinion.
The endings were completely different in the book petea's leg got torn up by the hybrid dog things. In the movie he didn't have a scratch from the dogs on his leg. They also skipped an important part on how petea and katniss meet at first before the hunger games and the reaping. In the movie they showed it in flash backs with no explanation or anything in the book it was explained and in order it wasn't a random flash back.
The movie was okay but the book was better i thought. I guess the film makers cant add every bit of detail and i guess the book will always will be better because the directors have a limited amount of time to film and money. The book is just paper and imagination and you have your whole life to write it. I think the only series that did well in the movies was harry potter.

Life is full of challenges how we get through them is what is most important. If it’s by force or persuasion or just taking advantage of people, we usually seem to overcome these obstacles one way. Whether or not the way we get past these problems is good or bad is different. Usually we only worry about ourselves and not about the person we use. In the book/movie The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Katniss (the main character) is faced with a life threating challenge she has to compete in the hunger games. Katniss uses Petea to stay alive on one hand it was survival on the other its selfish.

Katniss uses petea in a selfish way to stay alive. She was just putting on a show to get sponsors.  The crowd loved it though, they were playing the crowd. Katniss was only worried about her needs in the book she just wanted to make it back and Petea was her ticket to win. In the movie it made it seem as if katniss was actually falling for petea and not just using him to return to her family. She used him in both its just that in the movie it’s not explained. That could give people different impressions on katniss’s character. In the books perspective she is just trying to survive and make it back but in the movie she has real feelings for him. That could make the difference between people liking katniss’s character to them disliking her. Overall though she still did use him in one way or another.

Katniss had to use petea though if she didn’t she would have died. If katniss was alone I don’t think she would have made it because she wouldn’t have had sponsors she wouldn’t have had a crowd. With no crowd she would have had no sponsors and without sponsors she wouldn’t of had been able to heal her leg with that medicine she got. Katniss didn’t do it for her selfish reasons though because there alliance benifited both of them in the long run. In the end of the book her and petea didn’t talk he was mad at her because he felt used but in the end they were both alive he should be happy. IN the movie they were still together and happy he didn’t fell used he felt accomplished.

Katniss used and didn’t use Petea it’s all opinionative. When you look at it you could say that katniss has no morals and all she did was use Petea as a publicity stunt for sponsors. Or you could look at it as they worked together and conquered the hunger games as a team. It’s all on the perspective of the reader or movie watcher.  When you compare the book and the movie they’re kind of different in the end of the book petea and katniss’s relationship changes in the movie they’re still acting like they’re in love.

Katniss and Petea have been through so much with the hunger games. They both helped each other and might have taken advantage of one another at one point but that’s just human nature. That happens all the time people want to help themselves before anyone else. We forget how other people feel but also that’s good because you don’t want to be taken advantage of.
