To kill a mocking bird is a book about how one kid is
changed during her coming of age experience. The main character scout realizes
the how people really are in life. I think the author was trying to show how people
react to different situations. I think this book is a great lesson on how to
stand up for yourself as well. This is shown in the main characters father Atticus
when he sticks up for a person accused of raping a woman. Not only is it bad
the he supposedly rapped the woman to make it worse she’s a white lady and he’s
a black man. In the time period they live black people were treated unfairly.
I think Atticus is a great character because he stood up for
what is right no matter what. Even if the man actually did do it he believed
that everyone has a chance and there are always two half’s to a story. Atticus
is a character to look up too I think the author made Atticus the hidden hero.
He started off small but towards the end he became the most interesting character
in think in my opinion.
I think this quote from the book shows Atticus’s point of
view on defending the guy. “You never really understand a person until you
consider things from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk
around in it.” This quote is very deep it shows how people react to other people’s
stories or life styles. It’s one thing to know someone buts it’s other thing to
know what makes them who they are. Its
like don’t judge a book by its cover.
This book connects to real world in a lot of ways. It shows
the struggle between people and how they always want to Atticus people based on
their prior knowledge. It’s kind of sad that happens in the real world. It also
connects to real world by showing how events during your growing time period
(coming of age) change you as a person whether for good or bad.
