I haven't got to far into the hunger games yet but so far i like it. The main character lives in a district where power is abused. Everyone there has to fend for themselves to survive. People in the districts cant leave the area they're stuck in side an enclosed city. The main character Katniss though seems to know what shes doing in this corrupted city her dad taught her how to leave the city to hunt. She uses what she gets to sell or for her family to eat/use.
Katniss seems like a strong character so far. She basically helps the family survive by gathering and her personality seems like shes a leader. She's the tough, focused one in the family i think that might change in the course of the book though. For the hunger games she but her name in the most times so her family could be awarded with food and ingredients. That is crazy because she sacrificed so much if she were to get chosen she could die. She would give her life to feed her family that takes a lot of courage.
Katniss seems to be turning out to be a strong leader in the book so far. I think something is going to happen though that's gonna make her be put into a sticky situation. What if Katniss gets chosen for the hunger games. Who's going to help provide for her family while shes gone?

Romeo and Juliet response
During the Romeo and Juliet movie the main issue is the conflict between the Capulet’s and Montague’s. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet and there love is forbidden. Their families would never allow the two to marry or even speak to each other. What would you do to acquire true love.
I think that the parents are over reacting when they don’t want Juliet to see Romeo. Juliet’s parents rather her to be married to someone that she would be unhappy with instead of her being with her true love. Doesn’t she have a say in it if she doesn’t want to be married she doesn’t have to be. That’s like going to the store and ordering a pizza and the cook says no you can’t have this because you’re Capulet you have to have toast instead. That isn’t fair.
If you had to make a decision you didn’t want to make just to please your parents what would you do? Would you go against them or obey them. It’s your happiness battling theirs. Which do you chose would you let your parents down and chose your own happiness or would you make your parents happy and dread your decision. That’s why death was the only way they could obtain true love.

Decisions Decisions...
James's brothers are big time drug dealers and everyone is afraid of them. This brings respect to James but he doesn't really use it to his advantage. When harassed on the street and someone asks his name and he says the last name they share the attackers will back down. James i feel doesn't want to be associated with that part of his life though but he could be respected more.
I wonder why he doesn't use this advantage. Maybe he feels like if he lets it power him he'll fall into it and become like his brothers. He could still use the family name as a last resort. If he doesnt want to be recognized as just under the family name what does he want then
James and his family problem could follow him if hes not careful. Its kind of a curse it will be with him forever its his name. He'll always to be known and judged by his last name. Thats like how people are judged by there religion.

Watch Your Step ;)
I chose this picture of a waterfall painted on a sidewalk. I chose this picture because it is deceptive and is very eye catching, kudos to the artist. This was so well planed out the side walk seems as if its broken and there's a gaping hole in the middle with a beautiful water inside of it. I wish i could draw like that with so much detail.
The detail in the painting is very impressive. I love that there are cracks drawn to show that the rock was broken and how it gives the illusion that it descends. A large detail that i don't under stand is the bottle of liquor in the corner. Maybe it was an artist choice to add that or maybe he really like that drink. Maybe that bottle represents escape or like peace because its in a peaceful area that's what the illustrator finds peaceful.
I think that this painting that resembles peace and the unknowing. The picture shows peace through the beautiful scenery and colors. Then the small details show the unknowing part. The unknowing part is that is that real since the pavement is broken it leaves the mind to wonder if there were to be a hole in the earth would that be whats there?

Mentor text pick
I nominated Jacqueline as a mentor text. I think her writing is very focused and detailed. Her post make me think and actually made me want to read the book. I like that she writes like she wants to, and has so many inferences on her book. I also like her use of quotes. She also has intriguing titles. "Looking at a thing is different from seeing a thing."

The edge of death (mini spoiler)
Is he dead? James jumped off the building but didn't die instantly like Ashvin. Ashvin is gone but is James gone as well? He jumped off and fell to the ground he could still fell pain. Maybe he died after. If he survived would they be able to help him, he did fall off of a 5 story building.
Hes alive Ashvin is alive. i kind of knew it. Why would both main characters die in the story. They could of but it would have been harder to complete the story. How do you tell your mom you tried to kill yourself. She would never want to leave your side again, you would never be able to leave the house. Your family would think your dangerous and unstable to be around. I wonder what he was thinking would you be ashamed or would you not care and live the rest of your life.
If James tried to kill himself once why wouldn't he do it again. What if it was Ashvin that influenced him and that's why he tried to kill himself he felt i might as well if i don't have my friend since i already don't have my family. I think that James is confused at this point he wanted to kill himself but hes still alive its a what now moment.

Height's Kill
I started a new book its called Forest Gate. So far the book is about these two kids who have a rough time in there lives and not rough as in they're pick on one of them witnessed both of there parents killed. They end up attempting to kill themselves one succeeds with no pain the other was left to suffer until he couldn't take it. This part was really deep and actually scary to think that kids hate there so much that they even think to kill themselves.
The book is confusing at some parts i'm lost and find myself having to re-read. The book is told through two perspectives one of a boys and one of a girls. That's probably why i get lost but over all the book is good. i was wondering what was the purpose of the author writing such a depressingly detailed story.
When the two boys are about to kill them selves i wonder what could of been going through there heads. What would make you break to the point that you feel like you don't deserve to live. That must be frightening to think theres no other place to go to but your own destruction.
